Third Coast Review review

Ok, so sometimes it takes me a little while to catch on. I didn't see this awesome feature on Sparrow Collective (was  Fasten Collective) until I was revamping my stockists page.

This is mine - but to win you need to answer over yonder.

I was 16 and on an exchange in Dublin, Ireland in the early 90's.  There I was, an only kid and very alone in another universe. Because I was an only child, I didn't have the older sibling whose job it is to indoctrinate you to better music than your friends listen to. I bought a bootleg tape in a store in Crown Alley of Lou Reed broadcasting in 1972 from Hempstead Long Island.

The song "Rock n' Roll" (about a girl named Jenny who discovers music that didn't suck) felt like it was about me. The world enlarged, got massively cooler, and more exciting in about 40 minutes of tape.  The bootleg became my Vade Mecum.

The Question:

Who/What/Where is your profane salvation?  Was your life saved by Rock n' Roll, or what?

Felt Fun

I got contacted by poppytalk the other day based on the front page of Etsy which one of my items was on for a little while - apparently I got picked for inclusion in the Go-Green poppytalk handmade online market for March! I'm really excited. None of my work feels especially enviro-themed, but again that idea of using extant materials rather than purely new ones has some value, I think. So look for my work at poppytalk handmade and look at the great company it's in! Some of those other items currently up get me in a serious shopping mood - I'll probably feature something tomorrow from there.

Last night I took a fast class in wet felted beads as part of the employee party at the bead store I do a little moonlighting at. It was a great class at a great venue - the Fiber Studio on 48th and Nicollet. It's a great little shop really geared mainly toward spinning and needle and wet felting - anything for which lots of soft roving in lovely colors is needed.

I could get quite addicted to this - the little plain round beads would look so great next to plain peyote beaded beads that I've started plotting a necklace like that for my enso line.

I'm nearly completely caught up on shipping, which is a good way to feel at least once a week. I'm also hashing out some oxidized sterling pieces - this exiles my cats from the basement until I can decontaminate it again from any remotely possible chemical spill or flakeoff that I didn't notice. They are annoyed, but the risk of poisoning someone, however small, is not one I plan on taking. I can't wait till I can take that little bit of insanity outside (obviously with newspapers and good cleanup) in the warmer weather. I also want to start doing resin, but I don't dare till window opening weather is well under way.

These last posts make me sound like I'm either a hazmat emporium or a nervous nut, ha! I am neither, it's just part of the joy of jewelry.
